It feels really intimidating when you know there is something missing, and you have a longing to add more adventure to your life in whatever way interests you. It also feels intimidating taking that step from where you are to where you’d like to be.

You’re feeling stuck in your day to day life and crave adventure or feel like there is something more for you out there but don’t know how or where to start. You’re trying to work out how all those instagrammers seem to be on endless trips around the world and can’t understand how they make it work. We get it because we were once there ourselves. Living a life that makes you feel full is incredibly achievable, you don’t need to have a huge bank account, be incredibly fit, or do any of the things that you keep telling yourself you need to do to get started with finding your passion. You just need to start, and you can absolutely feel happier and more fulfilled now.

This space was created to inspire you to have the confidence to take action and create a life, by design, that feels full up to you. We believe that life doesn’t have to be this ‘thing’ that you get up and dread every day. We believe this because of the transformation that happened in our lives when we took a leap of faith and committed to living fully.

We’re Fay and Matt and within the space of two years we’ve become full time nomads, embarking on adventures around the world that have pushed us well and truly out of our comfort zones and are living a life we once only talked about. Backtrack a few years, whilst we were both in creative roles working in photography and advertising, we spent most of our time inside the confines of 4 walls. Our weeks were spent longing for the weekend and our minds were anywhere but where we were. Even though we lived in London and had the ‘world’ at our fingertips, it didn’t feel fulfilling to us and we felt a deep longing for something more. We decided to start hiking and went on our first adventure holiday, wildly underprepared, we headed off to the Alpi Apuane in Italy. As we drove through the mountains for the first time on the way to a hike, a feeling of absolute awe and wonder overcame us, and we were hooked. We didn’t get to the top of the mountain we had in our sights that day, but it didn’t matter. Even though we were hundreds of miles away, we felt like we were home. When we returned to London, our eyes were open and couldn’t go back. Being in nature filled a deep need that we didn’t really even know we had. Whilst travelling we felt alive, confident, happy and inspired in a way we’d never experienced before. We were soon booking our next trip, and then our next one, and the one after. Our adventures became more elaborate and that deep connection to the outdoors and the wilderness it entailed grew more and harder to ignore. Coming back every time and feeling like we had to forget our passions became harder and harder and after taking some pretty big leaps we start our photography business FM Doyle and This Expansive Adventure, telling stories visually and allowing us to paint a conscious picture of how we wanted our lives to be.

Neither of us are from particularly wealthy backgrounds and we certainly weren’t doing anything ‘special’. We just became savvy in using our skills and passions to design our lives the way we wanted them to be. The key thing that got us to where we are now is working on  our mindset and the faith that we could have what it was we desired. We genuinely believe that it all comes down to mindset and having the confidence to push past the fears that you might have. As a result of going after what we wanted unapologetically, we have become more successful, creative, healthier, fitter, enlightened, mindful, loving, kind, confident and outgoing, focused, easy going and a lot less stressed!

We’re so happy you decided to join us here, we can’t wait to see you out there living your own adventure.

Yes, you can!
