Title: Product tester/reviewer

Areas of expertise

Hiking, backpacking, environmental conservation, sustainability and inclusivity.

Skills I bring to the table

Gear testing and reviewing, sustainability focus.

Background

I’m passionate about advocating for the outdoors. I’ve served as a National Monuments Fellow via The Wyss Foundation and worked on initiatives to help marginalized communities have access to lands and waters. I currently am Executive Director of The Outdoorist Oath which works to create educational tools to help people be better allies for the people, planet and adventure.

What I write about

Hiking and backpacking gear reviews with a sustainability focus.

About me

I’m a first generation Mexican-American and grew up visiting the Maya forest, which gave me a pretty big appreciation for land and wildlife from my early years. The work I do today comes from this background and intersects with the social and environmental issues that surround me today.

Why I care about what I do

Making the outdoors more welcoming for all is one of the main driving factors behind the work I do – whether that is working with non profits, sitting on inclusion focused councils or being an ambassador for organizations like Leave No Trace.
